Tree of Jesse

The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Choszczno was built in the 14th century by the Knights of St. John in the Gothic style.

The most valuable monument of the church is a medieval ceramic bas-relief, the Tree of Jesse, located on the side wall of the presbytery. It represents the artistic depiction of Christ’s genealogical tree. In the center of the composition is the image of the crucified Christ, accompanied by Mary and St. John the Baptist. On the sides are 21 depictions of Christ’s ancestors.
