Queen Louise arrives in Stargard

Funded by Loisa von Hagen de domo Bonin of Kaliska (Schőnberg), and made by Rudolf and Otto Linnemann of Frankfurt, the stained glass window “Queen Louisa arrives in Stargard” depicts the scene of the May 25, 1798 welcome to Stargard of Queen Louisa of Prussia, the wife of Friedrich Wilhelm III, who had already become a legend during her lifetime.

Louisa, the mother of nine children, including two successive kings of Prussia (Friedrich Wilhelm IV and Wilhelm, since 1871 also German Emperor William I), was and remains the most popular of the Hohenzollern family, not least because of her stance during the Napoleonic Wars.
