Act of donation of the monastery and scene from the Battle of Legnica

Of great historical value is the foundation painting from around 1700, which shows the act of the monastery and a scene from the Battle of Legnica in 1241.

In the painting, the painter has captured the moment when the Voivode Bronisz hands over (1234) the foundation act to the Cistercians and grants the estate. Below, we see an element of the voivode’s biography, namely his participation in the Battle of Legnica. The painting was created at the dawn of the 18th century, so the costumes and scenography in the painting are characteristic of that era.
