Battle of Legnica

Porcelain painting depicting the Battle of Legnica on April 9, 1241, during which the Mongol army defeated a Polish-German army of knights. The central motif of the painting is the death of the Piast prince Henry II the Pious. Signature on the back: „Painted in the porcelain factory of Mr. ‘August Rappsilber’ in Jaworzyna Slaska 1877, J. Weissig”.
