Tombstone Plate of Archbishop Jan Zamoyski

The tombstone plate of Archbishop Jan Zamoyski (died 1614) features a fully sculpted recumbent figure of the deceased in pontifical attire, with his head resting on a hand placed on a cushion and a book. The figure is positioned on a masonry base covered with a black marble slab.

Jan Zamoyski (born in Zamość, died March 30, 1614, in Lviv) was a Polish Roman Catholic clergyman, Cistercian, diplomat, the diplomatic representative of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth to the Ottoman Empire from 1590 to 1591, auxiliary bishop of Płock from 1595 to 1604, metropolitan archbishop of Lviv from 1604 to 1614, and secretary to King Stefan Batory.
