Captain of the Grenadiers, 4th Infantry Regiment of the Duchy of Warsaw (1807–1812) – Undress Uniform
The officer is dressed in an undress uniform (daily uniform) in accordance with the 1810 “Dress Regulations.” He wears a navy blue woolen dress coat fastened on the chest with nine large buttons featuring the number “4.” The collar and cuffs are also navy blue (in the 4th Regiment, the collar could also be crimson). Under the coat is a white woolen vest with pockets. The trousers are white linen (though they should be nankeen).
High leather boots are worn. On the head is a black felt bicorn hat used with a crimson plume. The epaulettes are gold. On the left shoulder is an epaulette with gold fringe; on the right is a counter-epaulette without fringe. A broadsword was carried on a two-inch wide belt. The broadsword has a yellow (brass or gilded) hilt and a black leather scabbard. The sword knot is silver. In fusilier companies, officers carried a small sword instead of a broadsword. The hands are covered with gloves made of white goatskin.
