Replica of the French Flintlock Musket Model 1777 AN IX

Replica of the French Flintlock Musket Model 1777 AN IX

French flintlock muskets of the 1777 model are among the most mass-produced firearms of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Here we see the AN IX version. They were produced in many factories throughout France and Italy. Thanks to a strict quality control system, full interchangeability of components was introduced. This successful design became the prototype for many musket models developed in other countries.

The infantry version was approximately 151 cm long, with a barrel length of approx. 113 cm and a caliber of approx. 17.5 mm.

The stock is made of beech wood. The ramrod is steel. The barrel is attached to the stock by three steel bands and a tang screw. This made it easy to disassemble for cleaning or maintenance. A sling is attached to two swivels (at the trigger guard and the middle band). It is made of white leather about 25 mm wide. It allowed the musket to be carried slung over the back during marches.
