English pistol

Flintlock pistol

converted in the 19th century to percussion. The barrel is round, smoothbore, with a steel front sight at the muzzle. On the barrel, opposite the nipple, there are two faintly legible proof marks. The barrel tang is fixed with a single screw. On the lock plate, traces of the original flintlock mechanism are visible. Poorly legible engraved signature “…LONDON.” The side plate, corroded, steel, attached with two screws, shows traces of engraving. The hammer is missing; the nipple is mounted on the side of the barrel. The wooden stock is decorated near the tang and around the metal plates, extending to the end of the barrel. At the muzzle underside, there is a horn half-ring. Below are two steel ramrod pipes for attaching a wooden ramrod (partially broken). The grip is curved with steel fittings. The steel trigger guard is richly engraved. Five steel pins securing the pistol components are visible in the wooden stock. Steel elements are corroded. Minor losses in the wood are visible.
